Switch energy and home telephone supplier and save money says uSwitch.com
Home Services
With house prices on the up and interest rate rises imminent, homeowners
need to be saving money any which way they can. According to Web and
freephone based utilities comparison service uSwitch.com, savvy homeowners
could save up to £300* year simply by switching gas, electricity
and home phone providers.
And as we move into the swing of the annual home-buying season, research
from uSwitch.com Home Services** reveals that more than half (55.6 per
cent) of households don’t switch utility suppliers when they move
home.
Worryingly, two thirds (57.85 per cent) said that their reason for sticking
with their gas and electricity supplier was out of sheer laziness and
more than 20 per cent said that they stood by their current energy company
because they ‘trust and like’ them.
Andrew Salmon, Managing Director at uSwitch.com says: “Moving
home is an expensive business - not only are people paying more for their
property than ever before, rising interest rates and household debt is
also putting further pressure on income. Homeowners should be looking
to minimize outgoings as much as possible and switching energy or home
telephone provider is just a few of the ways this can be done.
“Our research shows that despite more people becoming tuned into
the idea of switching, there is still on average, a massive £2.2
billion**** per year being wasted by households who have not switched
away from their current energy suppliers.”
A family living in a three bedroom semi-detached house in north London
could save £168.21 on their annual energy bill if they switched
away from British Gas and London Energy and signed up to ScottishPower’s
online dual fuel plan.***
